Forward Osmosis – Current Status, Prospects, and Opportunities
Forward Osmosis (FO) provides a potentially lower energy solution for creating fresh water from seawater and wastewater. This is examined in a BlueTech Tracker™ a webinar.
In the past decade there has been a rapid development in the use of alternative water sources from seawater and wastewater. However, the energy cost of seawater reverse osmosis is too high for general adoption, and the uptake of wastewater reuse schemes has been hampered by public acceptance issues. Forward Osmosis (FO) provides a potential solution to these problems, especially in coastal zones, by reducing energy costs and providing an additional membrane barrier and This BlueTech Tracker™ are organising a webinar to the forward osmosis on April 7 2011, 11:30 AM – 13:00 PM EST
This BlueTech Tracker™ webinar will include presentations from international technology experts and market leaders from the US and the UK. The Webinar will present developments in the field of FO from the perspective of the research community, system suppliers, and engineering firms. The current status of membranes and system designs will be reviewed, and there will be presentations of the different approaches taken and of field results. Finally, there will be a discussion of prospects, highlighting research needs, new applications, and commercial opportunities. The webinar will include a Q&A session to address specific questions from participants.
