Heartland Water Technology

Technology Offering

LM-HT Concentrator

What is it?

The LM-HT Concentrator is a direct contact thermal evaporation technology for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD). Hot gas enters the system at ~1800°F/ 980°C. Direct contact is achieved by turbulent mixing of the gas at 800-1000°F (427°C-538°C) with the wastewater stream, causing evaporation. Solids and liquids are separated at ~150°F (66°C) and water is recycled back while water vapor is exhausted. The technology can utilize a wide variety of thermal energy sources and has no strong limitations on the feed to be treated. The innovation of the technology lies within the ability to use waste heat as the thermal energy source for evaporation. Further energy sources can be a Flare Configuration which uses landfill biogas or anaerobic digester biogas, a CoVap Configuration (Cogeneration for Industrial Evaporation) which uses hot gas from a turbine or engine or a combination of these two which the company calls a Hybrid Configuration. Through direct gas-water contact the process is kept simpler, and the risk of corrosion is reduced. The technology is offered in six different sizes starting from 9,000 GPD (34,075 L/d) and up to 144,000 GPD (545,206 L/d).
