Supercritical Water OxidationWhat is it?
General Atomics offers a Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) process. When a wastewater stream containing organic material is placed under supercritical condition (temperature and pressure are above 3740C and 221bar) and oxygen is introduced, a rapid (60 seconds) and complete (>99.9%) oxidation reaction takes place. This oxidation reaction is exothermic and so the reaction can be auto-thermal at low levels (30,000 mg/L COD approx.) of organic matter.Country
