Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) used for the pre-treatment of sludge prior to anaerobic digestion. A combination of high temperatures between 160 °C - 180 °C and a pressure of 6 bar causes the destruction of cells and the dissolution of insoluble proteins and carbohydrates. Heat treatment makes the digested sludge more compressible and results in a 10% increase in dewaterability.Website
