Paul O’Callaghan writes about the future of urban water management after his visit to Singapore International Water Week in July 2011.
The following article gives an insight into current methods employed by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) in Singapore to meet up to 60 % of its water needs without the need to import or desalinate sea water. As part of his trip Mr. O’Callaghan visited the Bedok Wastewater Treatment Plant and talks about the technologies employed at the plant as well as the concerted effort by the PUB to educate Singaporeans on their NEWater.
